Are You Buying Toys that Have Been Recalled?
When you are shopping for toys for children, it is important to make sure that you know which toys are safe to purchase for your children and which ones are hazardous. Many toys in stores have been recalled but the stores would not stop selling them them. If you have not been keeping up with the news and the toy recall list, then you could purchase some great looking toys that your children will play with all the time but they may turn out to contain some harmful materials. You need to be very careful when buying toddlers toys or any toys for babies in particular because even a small amount of toxic material in toys can harm them.
It is sad that hazardous toys continue to be sold in stores across the country, despite new laws that are supposed to protect children from hazardous toys. Toy safety is a very important issue that parents cannot ignore. While most of the toys on store shelves are considered safe, there continues to be various toys that are dangerous for small kids. With that fact in mind, parents and other child-care providers need to remain vigilant in order to avoid deaths or injuries resulting from toy related issues. With more information, the scope of unsafe toys has been widened to include previously considered safe toys such as those labeled as phthalate-free. It is true that even some products labeled phthalate-free contain the dangerous chemical.
While manufacturers of toys should act swiftly to recall products that are unsafe and provide parents the information they need to allow them to buy toys that are safe for their children, some of them care more about protecting their bottom lines. You might have heard of many toy recalls on TV but there are many more toy recalls that are not published. As a result, parents may not know that they are unsafe to use or buy. The Consumer Product Safety Commission, the agency charged with keeping toys and other products safe, have published alerts and information on toy safety but there are still tons of manufacturers that are not doing anything and still sell toys laden with toxic substances. The Consumer Product Safety Commission cannot do much about existing toys that are already out on the shelves.
